In the 21st century, you can pay your bills online, order your groceries online, do EVERYTHING online. Honestly, if I don’t have to leave my house to get sushi or wine, I certainly don’t need to leave to have a fun night with my girlfriends, which is all an Origami Owl Facebook party is.
Having an online Origami Owl Facebook party is easy. Having a killer online Origami Owl Facebook party takes a little more work, but it’s more fun for you and your guests, results in more orders which means more rewards for your hostess and more cash in your pocket and is more likely to get you additional bookings!
I treat each of my Facebook parties like real life “come to my house” parties (only I don’t have to clean the toilet or explain the case of wine in my shopping cart to a judgy Sam’s Club cashier). With that in mind, here are my top 5 tips for a killer Origami Owl Facebook party.
Tip 1: Have a theme
Yes, themes are cheesy, but so is cheese and everyone loves it (and them). A theme will help you create a cohesive look and feel for your party with your pre-event posts and party graphics. It encourages your guests to participate and sometimes, act silly.
Tip 2: Only VIPs up in here
Tell your hostess the party is EXCLUSIVE and she can only invite those people she would actually invite to her home. First, it will stop her from blindly inviting all 498 of her “friends”. And, she’ll feel more comfortable sending a personal message to her closest friends first. She should send a private message to her besties first, asking if they can attend. If they can, only then she can send the Facebook invite. If they do not respond (what kind of bestie does that?) or aren’t interested, she can add another person to invite. It’s essentially making an A List, B List, C List, etc. If an A Lister can’t make it, there’s room for someone on the B List. And stop at 15 guests. Managing the guest list this way makes in manageable and easy for the hostess. Because, after all, it is her party!
Tip 3: Bring on the food & the tunes
Have you ever been to a party with no food and no music? No way! That’s not a party, that’s a study group. Better than that, they are two fantastic elements to create pre-party engagement posts the guests will love.
First, ask your guests what songs they want to hear during the party. This is so much fun because you’ll begin to get to know your guests by their music choices. And, they will start to feel comfortable interacting with you in the party. Then, create a 90 minute Spotify playlist that you share with them once the party starts. I always listen to the playlist during the party to keep me upbeat and in sync with the guests.
Create and share a Pinterest board of your favorite party recipes and ask your guests to tell you which item they will be snacking on during the party. (Bonus, you are sneaking in your Pinterest account where they can see all of your beautiful Origami Owl jewelry before the party starts.)
Tip 4: Use video
You want your hostess’ friends to feel like you are part of their circle and there’s no better way to do that than you show them you, the real you. And the best way to do that is video. You can use video for your personal introduction, product demonstrations, to play games, whatever you are most comfortable with. Just remember to keep it short.
Bonus tip: This blooper video used for inviting guests gets the best interaction out of any video I’ve ever posted. Remember, you don’t have to be perfect, you just have to be authentic!
Tip 5: Play games
Include at least one, but ideally two to three, fun interactive games during your party. It will keep the mood light, the engagement high and the guests interest. Otherwise, your party will begin to feel like a retirement planning seminar and surprise- you are the speaker at the front of the room who is starting to sound like Charlie Brown’s teacher. Bonus tip: Focus your games around your hostess.
